General informationISE is currently recruiting a qualified, positive and reliable Assistant Academic Manager to join our Dublin team. If you are keen to join a friendly and supportive ACELS accredited school that values continuous professional development, please send your cover letter and CV!The Assistant Academic Manager (AAM) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the academic side of the Adult Centre. The AAM will share responsibility for disciplinary/behavioural issues with the DOS, ADoS, Student Liaison Officer and Centre Manager.The AAM will have undertaken a Child Safety, first aid and fire safety course.Main dutiesThe Assistant Academic Manager is responsible for ensuring that the courses are delivered according to the syllabi and learning outcomes set by the school management. The Junior Academic Manager is also responsible for ensuring that a high-quality academic programme is delivered. The responsibility of CPD and observations continue to be the responsibility of the main DOS, however, AAM will support the DOS in ensuring that the set guidelines and training provided by management is adhered to and followed by the Centre’s teaching staff.The academic management of the language centre To support the DoS in overseeing all aspects of teaching and learning. To promote the curriculum and the syllabi as well as a culture of best practice. To help implement an observation programme wherein each teacher receives at least one observation and improvement feedback per semester. To support the DOS in monitoring and responding to student feedback. To help manage the Centre with regards to teaching and curriculum changes to reflect new procedures and processes. To ensure students are appropriately placed according to their ability. To assist with student arrivals (induction) and departures (graduation) and together with the Student Liaison Officer provide support to all onboarding students or students who are leaving. To help with placement testing, continuous assessment of students throughout their programme. To manage the admin of final exams and Trinity exam centre set-up before, during and after Trinity exams. Staff Management To assist the DOS in managing the Centre teaching staff: to encourage and support them to maintain and raise academic standards. To monitor staff performance and to be the first port of call for any teacher in need of advice or support. To lead initial teacher induction and CPD sessions. To help run and implement staff academic professional development workshops. Class planning and organisation / Academic issue resolution To help plan the efficient class timetable and organise and plan for future class scheduling and teachers’ availability. To help organise cover for staff annual leave and medical leave. To publish class schedules for the whole school and liaise with staff to ensure any academic issues are resolved and actioned within 24 hours To organise the collection and analysis of student feedback and offer hands-on support to all teachers, especially newly joined, with lesson planning and general admin. To ensure all Arrivals & Departures admin is in place in a timely manner. QualificationsAssistant Academic Manager must have an ACELS recognised TEFL certificate: CELT, CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL DELTA or DipTESOL (preferred or on the programme) Must also have a degree (level 7 qualification minimum). MA level 9 preferred in a related field: Linguistics, English Studies, English Philology, MA in Education etc. Must have minimum 3 years ELT experience Please note that online ELE qualifications and i-to-i ELE qualifications are not recognised by ACELS for teaching English in the recognised ELE sector in Ireland.Deadline: please submit your application by 16:00 Friday, May 17th.All successful applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting and reference checks.Job Types: Contract, full-timeBenefits: 20 days annual leave, pension scheme
